Pumpkin Carving!

We spent yesterday evening carving our pumpkins (well...I carved them, but I made the kids help clean them out -- yuck!). They had a GREAT time making a mess!!
Here's Trev first:

And then Hailey:

And then Kimberly had fun making a mess too:

Christmas Supply Purge

I'm overwhelmed with supplies. I've been slowly cleaning out and going through them getting them ready to either use or sell!
Today I tackled my Christmas stuff. I had more then I thought I had.

My plan is to get it ALL to fit into ONE of these craft keepers. I love these for organizing so much. I have my supplies organized by 'theme' and I have one for each theme (IE Halloween, Baby Girl, Baby Boy, School, etc). They work perfect for me.

So...here's what I ended up with. You should see the amount of stuff that is in my SALE pile!!! Now it's all ready to be used up! :) And...I totally forgot about some of the stuff that I had, so it was fun to re-visit my stuff!

I am so FRUSTRATED with CK's customer service

Ugh. I'm just SO MAD RIGHT NOW!!

I pre-ordered the Sweet Baby KOTM kit. It was supposed to ship on the 10th. I got the billing email on the 13th, and the funds were deducted from my account on the 14th ($54.48). The email I got telling me that I was going to get billed also gave me a order number and it said that it would ship out within 2-7 business days. Great!

So...when I didn't get a shipping notification I gave them a call on the 20th. I got the run-around and had to speak to 3 different people until they finally got me connected with Sherri, and she told me that then last batch of kits went out on last Thursday (the 16th) and mine should be in that batch (mind you, anytime anyone looked up my name OR my order number nothing came up in the computers). So, she said that she hoped I'd have my kit by Friday (the 24th). Friday has come and gone now. I called Sherri yesterday and she didn't know what to do since she can't even see that I actually ordered the kit (even though I have an order number) and since she can't get any info about that, so can't tell if I actually paid for it (hello?? I have a copy of my statement RIGHT HERE that shows I paid for it!). So she wants me to talk to someone else. Great. Aaron.

I called Aaron yesterday. He didn't know what to do since he couldn't find my order in the system (not by name, order number, address, or anything) and so he tells me that I need to talk to Stephanie and that she'd call me later that day. Of course, no phone call from her. So I call back Aaron's number today and I get someone else. He tries to help me but tells me that I'd be better off re-ordering the kit and putting in for a refund of the old kit. Except that they can't give me a refund because as far as their system shows I never ordered or paid for the kit in the first place!! WHAT? I'm not ordering again! I just want what I paid for I told him. Anyways, he tells me that I need to talk to Stephanie and that he'd email her so that she can call me back today.

I'm BEYOND frustrated. I really, really, really want my kit!!! It shouldn't be sooo difficult to get what I PAID FOR!!

I just wanted to share...

2 pics that I got today (one I took, and one I got back from her Soccer team).

I took this picture today when she came home from a birthday party. I just thought she looked really beautiful. She's my sweet girl. :) Look at those dimples!!

And this one is her official soccer picture. Not bad if I say so myself. Kimberly tends to smile 'funny' these days, so I'm glad these look half decent. You should of seen her School pics (can you say RETAKE??).

Homemade Applesauce! YUM!

I made 2 batches of applesauce on Sunday. YUMMY! The first one I made with more cinnamon (because I like it that way) and this batch I made just with the 'regular' amount. Here it is only Wednesday and it's ALMOST gone!

The VERY basic recipe is:
8 large apples, peeled, cored and cut into thick slices
1/2 cup water
2 lemon slices
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Combine apples, water and lemon slices in a large saucepan. Simmer, uncovered for 10 minutes or until apples are part sauce and with some chunks of apple left. Watch closely and stir often to prevent burning. Applesauce should be thick; add more water if necessary. Leave sauce chunky or put apples and lemons through a food mill or coarse sieve.
Stir in sugar to desired sweetness. Add cinnamon and nutmeg.
Serve warm or chilled.
Cover and refrigerate leftovers for up to one week.
Yield 5 to 6 cups.

To make unsweetened applesauce: omit added sugar and select a naturally sweet variety such as Golden Delicious, Red Delicious or Gala.

Monday - Carne Asada Burritos
Tuesday - Tri Tip, Corn on the Cob, and baked beans
Wednesday - Free day, i'm thinking pizza
Thursday - Cheese Raveoli and Garlic Bread
Friday - Chicken. Some kind of chicken. Don't know what kind yet though.

Steamer Clams

YUM. This is my little indulgence. It's not chocolate for me, but clams. YUMMMM. And whenever I make them, I have to FIGHT the kids off so I can eat some myself.

I went to the grocery store tonight and they had just got a batch of Manila clams in...so I HAD to get a couple pounds.
And they were soooooooooo good.
My VERY simple recipe is:
3-5lbs clams
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 tbs oil
2 tbs butter
onions, garlic, parsley as needed
soak clams for a while (about an hour or so). in a pot, heat oil and butter until butter is melted. add garlic and onion and saute for a few minutes. add wine and cook for about 2 more minutes. add clams and parsley. cover and let steam for about 5-7 minutes. you were know that they are done when they are all opened. serve with warm french bread. YUM!

Busy Night!!

After the kids went to bed last night I scrapped!!! I had recently purged all my Halloween stuff, so it really made it easier for me to actually USE it now! I managed to finish all my 2006 Halloween pictures!! :) YEA! I made a good dent in my 2007 pics too (but I still have quite a few left). So, here's what I did:

Okay, so I caved.

I sold a punch on eBay earlier this morning (a picket fence border punch) for $18. Yea! I'm happy to get rid of it. I don't know why I buy things that I NEVER use (at least I only paid $11 for the punch to begin with though!), but I do.

So, that gave me about $15 after fees and such. I figure I could add that on to my budget for this pay period. So, as of this morning I had $35 in my scrap fund. Except...I bought a tote from someone at Scrapper Talk. Eeek. BUT, it was only $10 INCLUDING the shipping! And I've been wanting it for MONTHS. I'm hoping to use it for 'on the go' scrappin' for when we go out for day trips. :) And...it's CUTE!

Don't you think it's cute? I can't wait to get it now :)

So...I now have $25 in my scrap fund. I'm trying to keep accountable!

The (honest) Truth

I'm in LOVE with Trevor's Halloween costume. I bought it just because I wanted it to look good with OA's Night Light line. lol. He actually already had a costume, a monkey, that I bought for him LAST year for this year. When I saw the monster costume I HAD TO BUY IT. No matter that he already had a costume.

Good thing I did though, when I went to put on his monkey costume a few weeks ago it was TOO short!! So, in the end I did okay. And I DID get the monster using a 20% off coupon.

Anyways, just look at how cute he is in it:

Accountability

I TRY to budget myself to $20 a payday for Scrapbook items. I try really hard to follow it too. But lately...I've fallen off the wagon. I keep buying and buying, but I'm not scrapping at all (well, besides me DT stuff).

Since today is payday, I'm going to try REAL hard not to buy anything SBR. I have about $5 in my paypal account right now...and I do have a few SBR things for sale on a sale board. IF those sell, maybe I'll buy something new.

I feel guilty I guess. I have plenty of stuff...but just don't use it. At all. I even broke down and bought the KOTM baby kit. Did I need it? Probably not. I have PLENTY of baby scrapbook supplies already. 2 files FULL. I really didn't need the kit at all. But...it's just so darn CUTE! And...most likely I'll end up selling 1/2 the kit anyways, I don't need the folders and some things since I scrap 8.25x11. So I'll get SOME of my money back on it... I can't wait for it to get here though!!! I'm excited.

So anyways, I'm going to keep myself accountable. Only $20 for the next 2 weeks. I think I can do it!! :)

These are just TOO cute!

I picked them up at Target in the $1 area. I love them! I can just see them on my Halloween pages this year!

Today - 10/14/08

Today was my LRS deadline, but I finished up yesterday, so no last minute rushing for me today!! YEA! I'm happy about that :)

Today the washer repair man is coming to fix my washer. It's leaking water out the bottom. Not good. I hope it's fixable and that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I figure if it's over $150 -- I'm just going to get a new washer.

Today I HAVE to clean off my desk. It's a mess. I can't stand it.

Today I want to finish reading the book I've been reading.

Today I need to go to the post office.

And that's it... :)

Halloween pics from Portrait Innovations

Didn't they come out cute?? I just LOVE Trev's costume SOOO much!! He was being really uncooporative there, so they just kept snapping the camera hoping the something came out good. He wanted nothing to do with having his pictures taken today at all :( I'm afraid we are at that stage (sadly!).

Today...

I know that I didn't put up my 'daily list' but today I've been BUSY. I've been in a purging mood. I'm tired of my family room being so cluttered!!! Our house has been taken over by toys!!

Last week I donated two LARGE garbage bags worth of toys from the girls' room. That's helped some with the toy issue in there. Right now we are having a movie issue in there and they have tooooooo many movies and they don't fit on the shelf anymore and are piled up. And as you can imagine...slowly the pile gets bigger and bigger until....CRASH....they all fall down on the ground. Ugh.

Well, anyways, I spent all morning today going through Trevor's toy box. I pulled out all the Little People (Farm, Amusement park, Dino land, etc) and cleaned them up and put them up for sale on Craigslist. SOLD! Then I pulled out the Bounce and Spin Zebra. Did the same and SOLD! And his airplane that he never played with but I kept it around because I loved it. SOLD instantly! Whew. I also purged out Hailey's dresser and got all the clothes that are too small out (she recently hit a growth spurt and outgrew all her 3T clothes). I have someone coming by at 2 to get them. Yea! So far I've made $120. Oh, I have a lady coming by for Trev's old Pack-N-Play too in about an hour.

I'm just SO happy to get rid of this stuff. So is Trevor. With the family room empty we were able to re-set up his Shake and Go Track (we took it down when we got the airplane) and he's been in heaven. He just loves those cars.

Anyways, off to purge some more!

36 degrees

yup, that's what my temp gauge read this morning in the car when I took Kimberly to school.

No wonder the windows were iced up.

I'm not ready for FREEZING NIGHTS yet! I don't even have all the storm windows up. I still have the AC unit in the window. Eeek.

Happy, happy mail day!!

Today I got lots of fun stuff in the mail!!

First off, I got my Imaginisce order!!!! I LOVE THEM!

And then I got a fun package of 'stuff' that I ordered from a lady over at SBA!!

And for those of you that are going to say...'why stamps, you don't stamp'...because I plan on using them for something else -- lol!

Anyways, I just had to share!! I was way excited. Oh...and last week I got this package:

MORE of my very fav Alphabets!!!! I'm addicted to them. And the lady was selling them for only $1.50/each!!

I've kinda been on a spending spree lately. I need to scrap to make up for it!
